Committees
NCREIF has several standing committees that focus on specific disciplines within the real estate investment industry. They are:
- Accounting »
- Data Products Council »
- Farmland »
- Performance Measurement »
- Plan Sponsor »
- Portfolio Management »
- Research »
- Timberland »
- Valuation »
- Information Management »
NCREIF members meet two to three times per year at NCREIF conferences and other meetings, and committee meetings take place during those events. Committee papers, workbooks and other materials are produced between in-person meetings as well by subcommittees and task forces.
Although the Standing Committees are formalized, any member may participate in any or all committees that interest them.
Participation in committee sessions is valuable for educational purposes, as well as having a voice in the industry through the annual changes to the Real Estate Information Standards (REIS).
Committee Participation Expectations were recently developed:
Active participation and involvement by its members is critical to the success of NCREIF. Committee meetings are the principal means of participation in the organization. It is expected that during meetings members will:
- Bring your knowledge and your firm's perspective
- Actively listen
- Keep an open mind to all points of view
- Allow everyone to participate
- Speak one at a time
- Not dominate the discussion
- Share your knowledge: Give and don't just Take
- Not engage in side conversations
- Help the group stay on track (subject and schedule)
- Show respect for the opinions of others
- Take your newly gained knowledge back to your firm
